Display Distortion 3 continues the series. Same set different day. Same train different passengers.

The girl beside me is reading a book by Robert Goolrick. An author I have never heard of. Her prissy bag rubbing against me. Totally unaware that she is irritating the fuck out of me.

She gets off dragging her bag across my body. Only to be immediately replaced by an Asian woman with rolling luggage. Even more touching than the last woman. This one not oblivious, just entitled to my personal space.

Not one hot guy on the train. Just an Asian guy with a fade and a red t shirt with white Mickey Mouse silhouette.

That word crops up again. The shadow of things. The implication of an icon without all the extras.

The Prince stop comes so quickly I almost miss it. Like those days when it seems I have skipped a flight of stairs. Or other days when exhaustion adds another flight of stairs.

My mind’s perception of time is elastic. Stretching and snapping. Becoming something physical.

Still not a single hot guy to stare at. I sit here delaying the inevitable work. Sitting on my stoop outside a night of stretchy long hours.
