Christy Turlington is making her second appearance in the series. This time styled to look like and giving her best Sophia Loren. Its simplicity doesn’t stop it from being one of my favorites in this series.

So I let all elements go but the halo. The offset circles and gemstones so roughly cut it makes me a bit dizzy. Still it’s an effective trick and works wonderfully with the image.

The composition containing a profile shot and the rings of varying color really keep your eye moving. Paired with the intense destruction the piece transcends its simplicity. The jewelry of the piece helps by working the eye through constant comparison.

The great success here is the use of offset concentric circles. The image of Christy is perfect for the scale of these pieces. The drama of the profile. The color and destruction all work in harmony.

The great thing about posting these old pieces is that it allows my mind to remember and wander. Throughout the posting of this series in particular I have tried to imagine an update on these images. And I can clearly see where to go next.

I imagine that these images would become much darker. After years of going backstage and seeing many models, my opinions have changed a bit. I have changed a bit.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the new girls. Freja, Lara and Karlie are great! Maybe I have changed and it’s time to project that onto these new girls. Time to stop writing and get back to work.
