Number three in this series rounds out the supermodel trinity with Christy Turlington. Once again the subject is from a Versace ad.

Now that I think of it, there is going to be a lot of Versace in this series. I loved it back in the day when Gianni was still alive. Not that I don’t love it now, but just pining for the good old days.

So why so much Versace? I loved the styling of the ad campaigns. The bright colors, the excess, the infinity of  gold buttons. Maybe it was just all those gold buttons that brought out the magpie in me. That or the blue chip models he adored as much as I did.

Even though these are twenty years old I can still see things I still do today. Diamonds behind her head. The large circle of a close up of a television. The film strip placed just so. All things I love that frequently crop up in my pieces.

In my naivete I am assembling ways of working and speaking. I would have been twenty-two at the most. At the time I would have never said I was working on a series. I don’t think I even thought about it on that level. I just made things rather than not make things.
