Spots is one of these pre-millennial pieces from my return to computer art. Only one time since college was I able to dabble with computers. This is the full return.

This was the beginning of many things. I was dating a guy named Merlin who lived in the Ansonia on the Upper West Side. It was an extremely magical time. All those nodes of formative experience touched on again.

Merlin was devoted to digital photography even in 1999. He worked at CUNY and was well connected technologically. He introduced me to Photoshop and digital audio and video editing.

He also was pursuing webcam work. In charge of the webcam setup for CUNY he reintroduced me to an idea I had explored over a decade prior.

So it was this great return to my roots that the universe provided. But like any gift from the universe the magic was hard to hold on to. It’s a really long story and one I don’t want to document here or anywhere.

This particular piece is just a webcam shot. Childishly poked at with Photoahop and then printed by Merlin. It isn’t one of my favorite things I have done. But the hidden symbology and the historical marker is valuable. Immensely valuable.
