Twenty-fifth in the MAZE Series proves that once you start breaking the rules for beauty, you won’t be able to stop. So many rules broken and still one of my favorites in the whole series.
During the dark hours of the cutter/plotter I held on to these four crops dearly. I didn’t want to feed them to the paper shredder. Finally after seeing the wonderful documentary Room 237, I just knew I had to go for it.
There is a part in the documentary where someone comments on Stanley Kubrick’s fascination with subliminal advertising. It gave me momentum to make sure these weren’t eaten by the machine. I mean where else would you hide subliminal imagery but aluminum foil and whiskey on the rocks?
As the series progresses I am getting more of what I want out of it. I am allowing myself to change the process to suit. I am gaining flexibility of mind. But most importantly MAZE25 is beautiful. On its own without my insights.
I have turned a project that almost became drudgery into a game as wonderful to play as Tetris. Which is fantastic because Tetris is legendary.
