I alluded to the twenty-fourth piece in the MAZE Series in an earlier post. I was bitching about the cutter plotter ruining a series of underwater mirrors. Apparently I found duplicates and saved a great idea.

This is the beginning of breaking the rules of the MAZE Series. Notice the two pieces that create the top corner in each piece. There is a cut, but they are both from the same crop. Side by side.

Because these pieces are unique they can’t move. So the options are limited as to where they can go. Either both can go above or below. Or one could go and one could stay and match its current background. Either way the rule is broken.

I could have cut custom pieces for those and altered the flip. But after losing the first four crops due to cutter malfunction I would have to replace with another color and texture.

I couldn’t have that. The intent was to play on the blue and green against the broken silhouettes. I decided to break the rule and learn to be flexible for the idea’s sake. It works to my advantage.
