MAZE03, third in the MAZE Series, comes off wonderfully. It’s a mix of two editorial images from the same page, an advertisement featuring a pool and a wonderful piece from Juxtapoz. Win, win, win.
This is a perfect example of how the backside of the images flip randomly and create something amazing. The red striped lettering in both pieces on the left are flipped. It works.
It’s also a great example of how my plexiglass viewfinder really works. The pool in the bottom right grips the shape of the maze so nicely. It also perfectly crops that image of a hand crucified by a Skeletor doll from Juxtapoz found in the upper right hand side.
The two editorial images on the left work as planned. I wanted the model to appear and disappear like the Cheshire cat making it hard to determine how the trick worked. It works well. Stay tuned for more of this type of play.
Now I must handle the obvious questions that will arise about the plotter/cutter itself. I have yet to offer a brand name and will not here on this website. If you write to me, I will talk with you about it. It’s a touch of bitterness that causes me to refuse free advertising for this corporation.
A couple of weeks before I ordered my machine I called their corporate offices to ask a bunch of questions. One of them being if there was going to be any releases of new machines in the near future. They promised me that this was not the case. Two weeks after I received my machine I got an email about the release of a new machine. Assholes.
More importantly, it’s more about my ethos. Personally I don’t wear anything with ostentatious logos. Pay me to advertise for you or I am not wearing your logo. And this goes for technology too. Want me to extol the virtues of a Canon scanner, Nikon camera, Apple computer? Send me one for free. How about that?
