Hangar

Hangar is a gorgeous shot previously seen as a crop on the cover of one of my early minimal do mixes. You can find that mix here. I really need to get back on mixes.
This hangar was on the north side of the Jacob Javitz center. Way over on the West Side of Midtown Manhattan. A favorite stomping ground for these photography runs.
I think I was mostly taken in by the Amber color. It reminds me of old African and Nepalese jewelry I used to sell. Not as dark as the bamboo cast pieces though. I think those were from Nepal and China.
Then the color is broken up by all the roofing wire structure. It is just a lovely and complex set of geometries. It is so beautiful I chose it to represent a mix long before the creation of this site.
I don’t know if the structure is still there because I haven’t been over in that neighborhood in about six months. The last time I was in that neighborhood there was a ton of construction going on. I must make the trek to see if it is still there and get more shots.
