FFXIV Nico 06 sees more of my alter ego. This time in bard gear in front of an aetheryte teleportation point.
It is a little sad because this week I unsubscribed from the service. It is the second time I have stopped playing. I think this time may be for good.
It’s less a reflection on this game and more on the MMORPG genre. More a reflection of the community and the real world that spawns them.
So a little balance, this was not the hostile adolescent community of WoW. Or maybe not as much and to the intense degree of Warcraft. Final Fantasy had its own flavor.
But the intense grind paired with a community that was uninteresting wasn’t enough to keep me around.
Even within large gay Free Companies finding people who could talk about a diverse range of topics was limited. As I have said before it mirrors life and it has been as hard to find like minded friends IRL. It was even harder in game.
There were moments where I should have latched on and made something happen. One time in Thanalan I ran across a guy named Athol Brose. You either get it or you don’t.
I chatted forever and he knew where my name came from. Two people speaking a hidden language. A meeting that is just binary vapor now.
