Second in the Street Paper series sees new pieces as well as old. Faile returns but so do new pieces from left field. A bird’s nest and tomato plant make great appearances. As do several close up faces in many different styles.
Malcolm in the Middle becomes a commentary on the Bush regime. I try to be bipartisan in my picture taking. But Kerry sucks just because he couldn’t even win against a villain like Bush. What a zombie.
The Cent of the Unive photo says it all. You are in the age of cognitive dissonance. Thanks to so many of you on Facebook for vilifying Obama and longing for the days of Bush. Most of you only have a We Will Never Forget internet meme to hold you over. What you really needed was to live in New York City during 9-11.
These pictures are art and occasionally they are commentaries. Not necessarily commentaries I made, just ones I noticed. The previous paragraphs are my commentary.
I guess it’s all commentary. The act of vandalizing a world already vandalized by corporations is commentary. But the beauty takes more of the focus away from making political jabs. It’s far more aggressive to subvert the barrage of constant advertising.
The validity of writing on another person’s work really takes it to Duchampian levels. There are people who create slap ups and others just shred advertising to speak. Both done on paper. Hey Mona Lisa, you need a moustache.
I know the Street Paint versus Street Paper can be a bit arbitrary. I knew that at the beginning when breaking these sets. But it’s an easy way to stop the sets from being an unwieldy sixty images.
Sometimes the arbitration blurs. The hip hop stickers are paint on paper? Maybe. But in the end I put them in with this bunch. I guess in the end it’s all arbitrary.
