I finally reach 2010 with my first piece of Charlize Theron. It started with a photograph I took of a lake in Central Park which I used to create the background of the image. While standing there and taking that image, I actually saw most of the elements for this piece. I sketched them in my notebook quickly.

With the 2010 pieces I am starting to take tally of what is working and what isn’t working. With that tally, I begin to formalize the remaining two-thirds of this series. With this particular set, I know from the beginning that there will be no more than three and the first one will have a black top layer. Of course rules always get bent with me.

The slogan “What you want to do in life” running up the left hand side. Sunflowers. And the added cut elements like the cross on the left hand side. That was cut and added as an extra element. All these elements assist in the success.

If you notice the wear on the right side lower corner, you can see some black elements not sanded at all. That’s because sometimes the black layer sticks and other times you have to reapply it. Hence the black covering the fruit sticker. It happens to the left of the sunflowers too. Lovely flaws all.
