Rorschach 01 sees more Governor’s School work on this site. Such a formative experience I know why there is so much. It just shocks me a little at how much has stuck around.
These were disposable mixing palettes. Those waxed paper variety that came in a pad. Cheap school grade items.
At the end of everyday painting I would fold them over and create one of these. Strange that I would explore something so psychological at such a young age. Even stranger that I would lug them around for nearly thirty years.
Even with all the negative experiences from the aftermath of Governor’s School I still have a soft spot for that time. A true loving memory of feeling loved and wanted. It faded but the memory of that fleeting time is still with me.
Now I just need to excavate that feeling. Dig it out from underneath all that brokenness and bitterness. Polish it until I can hold it in my hand and see it clearly.
