Nathan is a simple shot of a friend I took after a long night of eating and drinking. Shot in the smoking area outside The Boom Boom Room it does a lot with little. If you know Nathan it captures him perfectly.

Maybe not in a beauty shot way. But anyone who knows him has seen his shy hands over mouth laughter. Maybe Nadene or I said something hysterical that provoked his reaction.

I should mention here that there is no filter or Instagram crap. If I wanted a square picture that mimicked a Polaroid I would take a Polaroid. All I have done to this picture is crop, adjust the levels and resize. Easy stuff that doesn’t include any heavy handed reworking.

I would say this about many of the images here on the site. No overworking. Just like a true photo editor. Pop, snap  and done.

The color scheme is great as is the composition. Both are my strong suits. Both are good enough that the soft focus doesn’t bother me at all.

It doesn’t hurt that it documents a great night out. Dinner and drinking. Lots of great chat. Just a general air of ease and welcome that resulted in a great portrait.
