Mommie Dearhiss is another self explanatory paper piece. Faye Dunaway in the titular role as Joan Crawford. As a gay man, need I say more?
It’s a movie that I love and catch parts of whenever it’s on and I need a moment of horror and good laughs. Much like Showgirls in its camp, it too is a modern classic. Both telling stories of the great American dream gone wrong.
The quotes abound. It is a must see for anyone who calls themselves gay. Even if you are a millennial and think that reality began with the birth of Britney Spears.
I read the book before seeing the movie. My sister an avid and trashy reader left it for my young impressionable mind. It it left an indelible mark much the same way The Amityville Horror did.
As usual, the book was better. But the movie was great in its own right. Faye Dunaway chewing through scenery in a career grave digging performance. Box office poison.
So it was nice to come outside of work and find this beauty waiting for me. All in blue. A simple shining beacon of glamour and child abuse.
