Number fourteen in the MAZE Series features Freja, again. She’s been my favorite of the new crop since back when I worked Fashion Week. We were shooting for a nail company and would ask the models to show their nails. Freja decided the best way to show the nails was to pick her nose. Love those photos! Love that attitude!

So this begins another new era. I am using a permanent spray adhesive to bond the magazine layer to cardstock. Obviously no flips. Also it destroys the original patterns for rotation.

Under each of these pieces is a layout of the piece with pattern fills for the rotation. This stops two pieces of the same crop from touching each other. But that doesn’t work under these circumstances. Now it’s less like a quilt and more like Tetris. It’s wonderful but doesn’t always allow completion in four crops.

That too has had its benefit. I now have these crops with odd pieces cut out. To visualize, imagine just the four unavailable pieces cut out of one crop. I will post those after this series’ completion.

Lots of changes throughout the course of this series. They are great and making my mind work within the process. Now I just have twenty more to go to reach back to the perfection of those first few.
