Linda Flag Fax is another strange anecdote. It was a project for a fax art museum show. Oddly I got invited by writing to a personal ad in the back of Bear Magazine.
It was a time before the supercomputer connected reality we live in now. The ad was looking for alt art queers. Funnily enough he asked about COIL and I blew it and thought he meant This Mortal Coil.
We still corresponded via snail mail for some time. We never met. Then shortly after the death of my mother I was invited by J. S. Adams to participate in a Fourth of July museum show. I think it was in Kentucky but who knows.
This is the piece I came up with. I still love it and marvel at the whole series of events that lead me to being a part of the show. It almost seems like another reality.
Just think about the relevance of many of the ideas presented in this post. Magazine personal ads, faxes, correspondence via snail mail. It’s like a completely different reality. I wonder if it is any better?
