Kusama

Kusama is another favorite work. Not just because I have loved the artist for so long but because it’s a great shot. I love everything about it.
The work itself is great. The python glossy pumpkins in colors of warning. In a room of warning. The matte versus the glossy. The pattern almost everywhere. It works for me.
What works the most is the tiny viewer in the upper right. Her tasteful and sensible dressing style mimics the whiteness of the blank gallery. It is a beautiful contrast.
Plus it reminds me of that photographer who shoots tiny dolls. But makes them look big. He did album artwork in the eighties and nineties. Goodness my brain won’t hold everything.
It’s just a great shot all around. A moment I remember so well. This is one of the great purposes for the things I make. Little signposts along the way.
