The negative of yesterday’s image is for the tenth time of me, Craig Ashby. It really builds on the strengths of yesterday’s image. Paired with the color, texture, distress and staining, it’s one of my favorites.
Let me just swoon for a moment on those concentric rings on the left cheek. Like coffee cup stains. I am so glad I have found beauty in things most people would consider faults. It’s helped both as an artist and as a human being. Trust when I say I need all the help I can get.
Otherwise this series is shaping up quite nicely. The progression is great and the images are holding their own for material that is as old as many people I work with currently. The back and forth between positive and negative creates tension and unveils complexity, slowly.
This site is about collecting the work I have done in the past as much as it is for posting the work I am doing or going to do. So for some of you who have seen these images before, I thank you for your attention again. Just keep watching, I have many more pieces to come.
