Icons-Kate Bush 001 is the first in the ongoing Icons book. It will take a long time to finish this project so bear with it.

I post this on this date because today is the year anniversary of seeing Kate Bush’s Before the Dawn live show in London. Easily the best concert I have ever seen in my life.

When planning this project there was no question who would come first. It was going to be Kate in her Mishima nod cover for The Sensual World.

Not that The Sensual World is my favorite. I am more of a Never For Ever kind of guy. But I love this image and it is instantly recognizable as my favorite musician.

Kate Bush is the only artist I would take a transatlantic flight for. Maybe Liz if she got her shit together. But as of right now Kate is it. Hence seat one.

I could write pages on why I love her. Her influence is unparalleled. She is a maverick and a genius. She grows with me in a deep soul changing way that makes me misty as I write this.

Plus it’s a shared experience with the bestest friend of my life. Ernie and I both love her. We both boarded that flight to make our pilgrimage. We both agree that it was one of the greatest times of our life.

You will also notice that women are going to rule the beginning of this series. I have ideas for male heroes but haven’t even started any. It’s all women for a very long time.

Why? Because it is about time women came first. As a gay man female vocalists have always been hugely important. So get ready for a celebration of women who rule.
