This is the only post of extended shutter light trails entitled Heaven or Las Vegas. An ode to the album by Cocteau Twins that has been hugely influential both visually and sonically in my life. I thought for the longest time that the cover was Oliver Vaughan of 4AD fame. But in reality it is by Paul West.
When I showed this set to Ernesto Repetto he commented that everyone has these kinds of pictures. And they do. I just don’t think everyone curates them in the same way I do. Maybe because they are less significant to others than they are to me.
Many of these pictures are trees done up in Christmas lights. Notice the red and white. The second picture is traffic seen on curved brushed aluminum. Which always brings to mind the HBO mini movie from the eighties. The rest are lost memories.
I have used many images like these in previous works. The PR-RAW series features many of these light paintings in the ones that have full color prints as the final layer. Check the MadgeLV set to see a touch of this idea.
Most importantly these ideas are recycled into newer works. Recycling ideas or materials is key to everything I make. It’s the fusing of those recycled ideas and materials that makes the work unique to me.
