Genet is another element from The Catch Trap. A Zeus porn advertisement paired with Wizard of Oz poppies. Heavy with seed.

It is a simple discussion of gay addiction in one tiny frame of a painting that was painted before I could even conceptualize such an idea. There it is, suck it.

Both are preserved here beautifully. A tiny record of a small piece that makes up a larger idea about gay relationships long before the current level of faux acceptance. Still relevant.

More importantly it references so many ideas I can’t even speak about this enough. Did I say Wizard of Oz?  Crazy shit.

I remember my wealthy aunt coming to visit from Tampa around the time of showing this piece. She was an amateur painter also. She asked what the painting meant. This is all referring to The Catch Trap and How Soon Is Now?

At the time I was completely evasive. It’s just personal archaeology I said to diffuse. But she was so sharp and snooty. She demanded answers about why I would make such a thing.

I stood my ground and remained evasive. I didn’t want to share my hidden history. It was none of her fucking business.

If she couldn’t look at it and come up with intelligent conclusions that would lead her to Genet’s Our Lady of the Flowers then fuck this dumb, elitist bitch. Fuck her and her stupid, facile landscape painting bullshit.

Fuck you, Aunt Mildred.
