Showing nails or talking on an invisible phone. All these images have a witch-house appeal to them. Maybe it’s more invisible phone than nails.

Topic of the day. Last night a coworker showed me collages by a friend of hers. He has done covers for Robyn and other well known artists. It made me queasy.

Unlike the earlier rant about jerk off art that eats money and shits it out. This artist, will look up the name later, had gorgeous stuff. Beautifully crafted, thought out, exquisite pieces that made me drool.

It left me feeling numb and small. So I come home and explain the idea to Ernie and the feelings I was having. Ernie immediately asked if everything I posted on the site was amazing. Maybe I should just build a doghouse out of bricks made of solid numbness and smallness.

No, everything isn’t amazing on the blog. No everything isn’t amazing even in the gallery sets. It’s more about a narrative. The blog being a point of sharing. It’s less about perfection and more about being unafraid to share.

But then again, it’s also about seeing a great artist’s work and absorbing. What ideas could I take from that artist and make my work better? What can I do that is really great?
