Etrigan is a sampled piece from the border of The Catch Trap. Borrowed from Matt Wagner’s The Demon. A beautiful little panel with great dialogue.
Matt Wagner’s work in general has been such an influence. From Grendel to Mage I have followed his career. The Pander Brothers era of Grendel being something you should check out.
The quote itself proved so important to that piece. A discussion of a relationship as a board game with no direction. A bored game.
When I post these tidbits, I am once again looking at how to utilize it hear old ideas to move forward. Looking for the way forward through the past. Drawing that map.
Comic imagery is returning in a very obvious way. But how do I freshen up the idea? How do I come up with a Picabia level idea and still retain a sameness and connection with past work?
This is the current problem. Channeling those big ideas is the real work. I definitely see bigger work coming soon.
As I near the end of scanning, cleaning and massive reorganization it is nearly time to make a move. It feels me with fear. But as my mother used to say, it is time to shit or get off the pot.
