Serigraph

Blink is the final piece in the set of nineties band posters. This aged and yellowed piece was the silk screened version that finally was produced. I still love it even though it conjures a lot of mixed emotions from me.

Firs up in the bag of mixed emotions was the actual production of this piece. The guy who did it worked at a t-shirt printer. I can’t even remember his name. I just remember that he was trying to overwhelm the project and nearly succeeded.

He was one of those strange guys who wore funny hats and constantly looked like he had just fallen out of a headshop. A tiny elf of a man who never seemed to vibe with me and my gay punkness.

Someone help me out with his name. It was a funny thing. Named like an ancillary relative of the seven dwarves. Maybe I am just being mean.

Let me just say that the entire prepress time I spent outside the building feeling very alienated from the process. There were issues in everything from the halftone to the color choice. Maybe it was me remaining brooding and silent that made the tension so bad.

I wish I had been more of a diva and seized control of the piece. It would have fixed many of the problems I still have with the piece.

Apparently I still haven’t learned this lesson. The same thing happened in 2010 with an album cover. But that’s a story for another post.
