You know I had to go with Oprah Winfrey for the final set of this series. Oprah, Oprah, Oprah. After the previous J-LoLVs I feel I am ending this series strong. Sure it’s been a little up and down, but that’s just how I roll.
So this is the first in the Oprah series, which means a black top layer. A black top layer that works perfectly with those gorgeous color layers. I still look at this piece with shock. I can’t believe I can make things that look like this.
Pink, purple, gold, red. The layers are harmonious and destroyed perfectly. It is exactly my mind’s eye reflecting Oprah’s third eye infinitely.
The crucial element to all the successful pieces in this set is humor. The Doctor Strange reference to the Eye of Agamotto is ridiculous. Just like the Ivana or the J-LoLV pieces have a layer of ridiculousness to them.
It’s the balance and blend of all these ideas that create the formula for these pieces. And a good amount of luck and love finishes the equation.
When I have included these pieces in portfolios for submission, this one always leads. It fights with a few others for the favorite position, but I see with clarity its strengths.
