2011 Street Paint

Just five images in the 2011 Street Paint set. It’s starting to dwindle like my photography output in this era. At the time I was focusing more on collage and painting.

This is the first set using the iPhone 4S camera. It’s not a camera that inspires me to take photos. Ernesto is constantly raving that the Samsung Galaxy takes far better pictures. I always respond that almost anything could take a better picture.

The set itself features a cadavre exquis of advertising by D*Face. At least I think it’s D*Face. Those both were taken in the Meat Packing District. Note that even a legendary artist gets his share of defacement from other artists.

The two images of heavy tagging are from the bathrooms of Welcome to the Johnsons. A lower east side establishment with plastic covered couches. It used to be quite the hangout for some of my co-workers.

Imagery wise it ranks high in the layered mess category. The colors are so beautiful and the layering is something for me to personally strive for. The bottom most image was my screen on my phone for the longest time.

The “I am almost ready” shot is typical of New York City. A scrawl from left field that makes you wonder if it’s a quote you are unaware of or some personal comment directed at a real person. I love them and think they are hidden messages we should all ponder.

I too am almost ready. I begin wrapping up these posts after so much writing. I still have several posts to create. Polaroids and old paintings and collage. More old black and white photographs.

I have taken nearly a month off from the site, from mid May to mid June, to edit, create and write these posts. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
