The first picture I believe is actually a woman. Amazingly it skews into post human drag with a touch of plastic surgery. It reminds me of the cover to Kitsuné Boombox mixed by Jerry Bouthier. Just click it and you instantly see the connection.
In 2008 I would have still been infatuated with Kitsuné. Despite its detractors, I am talking about you Pitchfork, it is a wonderful label that has released a tremendous amount of music I still love. Props to the french fox!
This first image could be seen as commentary on current makeup trends. Since Kevin Aucoin women have rapidly been moving into drag like contouring. But with the Real Housewives it has reached an all new level. Like most spillover, it’s toxic.
The second image is more abstract. More of that 4AD look. But more current. It’s the adoration of bright colors and jpg compression.
It pairs nicely because of the deep contrast between the two. The contrast covering a nice range of ideas I regularly tread. Beauty and horror. You can decide which is more empty.
