Here’s my third iteration of Madonna. And the very first in the series to use a photo layer instead of a solid color. The photo set this particular photo is from will eventually make its way here.
With this set, I nail down the basic three forms for this set. A black layer, a solid layer and a photo layer. At the time my head was racing with possibility. Every time I would finish a piece, I would sit with a notebook and write a critique. Frequently the critique smeared into a brainstorming lab. That’s where all the ideas for the 2010 pieces come from.
I like the overall nature of this piece. But I feel that rather than cut four layers, I should have just cut a single white layer. The cut layers are all the same because I think I oversanded the layers. I love the purple! But it’s just purple and white. It needs more. It needs to be too much. That was the goal.
There are some good bits. I love the composite photo layer. I absolutely must post the best of that particular series of photos. They were so much fun to make.
