Mixed media on masonite.

Here’s the second Madonna. I chose a solid sepia layer for the top. Much like the solid navy layer of 05-Nadja3. So at this moment some ideas are being set in stone but some ideas are still in flux. Right here I have nailed down that each set needs a solid black image and a solid color image for the top layer.
There are several things I like about this image. The breakup of the sepia layer above her right eye. That right pointing arrow above her right eye which is actually the magazine layer underneath (it mimics the bow shape nicely). On the bottom right corner in her neck are those blue jellyfish shapes. It all plays nicely with the blue and red paint layers on the masonite.
In this piece I saw a series with brown/sepia tones as the top layers. Maybe in this piece it doesn’t mix with the coolness of the masonite, but I could see making things more like stained layers. Maybe on future pieces on wood.
I think this color pairs nicely with such an institutional blue as seen in the original spatter layer. Which reminds me of the color they paint the Post No Bills boards in NYC.
